INSTRUCTOR COURSES

Instructor Course 201

The instructor program features two levels; Camp Metal Clay Instructor and Camp Metal Clay Principal Instructor. To become an Camp Metal Clay Instructor, students must complete Camp Metal Clay Course 101 and Camp Metal Clay Instructor Course 201 or a Crossover Certification. To become an Camp Metal Clay Principal Instructor, students must complete Camp Metal Clay Course 101, Camp Metal Clay Instructor Course 201 and Camp Metal Clay Principal Instructor Course 301 or a Crossover Certification.

 

The Camp Metal Clay Certification Program ensures superior education and maintains integrity by adhering to pre-written lesson plans and requiring annual continuing education for all certifying instructors. After completion of the applicable course, all instructors can purchase the lesson plan of their choice. This is a one-time purchase which entitles the instructor to teach that course and issue certificates under the Camp Metal Clay Certification Program name. In order to maintain eligibility, all instructors are required to watch an annual continuing education video.

Carrie Story Art

This two-day course is designed to teach students, who are interested in becoming instructors, to hold successful workshops, develop projects and curricula and certify students in the Camp Metal Clay Certification Program. Students will learn all of the fundamental skills of instruction while working through a real world project.

 

Lesson plans, time management, pricing as well as motivational speaking will be addressed. Practice sessions of group speaking and holding your audience's attention are just a few of the subjects discussed.

 

The course details the key components of making successful tutorials and classes. Afterwards, students will create their own metal clay project and tutorial based on the guidelines addressed in class. Students receive 50g of silver metal clay to be used in the tutorial development project.

 

Upon completion of the course and project, students take a short written test. Each student will receive a Certificate of Completion from Sawtooth School for Visual Art and a 10% discount on featured silver metal clays at Clay Revolution and participating suppliers. The designation of Camp Metal Clay Instructor will be awarded and students will be eligible to purchase the Camp Metal Clay Course 101 lesson plan and begin certifying other students.

 

This class can only be taken by students who have completed Course 101 or have been approved in advance.

Principal Instructor Course 301

This one-day course is designed to teach Camp Metal Clay Instructors to master their instruction techniques, train other students in the art of instruction, adhere to ethical standards within the art world and mentor students as well as other metal clay instructors.

Principal Instructors are responsible for certifying Camp Metal Clay Instructors in the Camp Metal Clay Certification Program. This position requires the Principal Instructor to evaluate other metal clay instructors, adhere to program and ethical standards and mentor students as well as other instructors.

​

Teaching Camp Metal Clay Instructor Course 201 and certifying Camp Metal Clay Instructors will be extensively addressed. The course will review the standards of Course 201 while discussing student advancement and mentoring.

 

Students will participate in round table discussions regarding instruction techniques and be challenged with ethical concerns.
